Today Is A Good Day To Have A Good Day

I wake up every day thankful for the life I have.

Do I have 3 chronic illnesses? Yes. I am a caregiver to someone who has MS? Yes. Am I stressed, overworked, and underpaid? Yes, yes, and yes.

But I CHOOSE happiness. I CHOOSE to have a positive outlook. I CHOOSE to look at what I have in my life and not what I don't have and remain thankful and grateful. It's a choice we have to make. We can either sit and dwell about the negative or we can embrace the positive. I once heard someone say it's much harder to be happy and positive. They said being negative is much easier, but it takes work to be positive. I agree. It's much easier to go down the path of "woe is me, I hate life, screw everything". That's not to say you can't have bad days. Everyone is allowed to have a bad day. But it's how you choose to react to all the other days that matter.

Some things I'm thankful for:
  • the sun is shining
  • the birds are chirping
  • I can hear the neighbors kids running through the house next door
  • MY MOM, MY MOM, MY MOM
  • laughter
  • time spent with my favorite people
  • the smell of fresh flowers
  • experiencing life with my favorite person in the world (you already know)
  • coffee (don't judge me)
  • I have a job, a roof over my head, clothes on my back, and food in my belly
The list goes on. Sure, I might not be able to run a marathon, but I'm alive. Who knows, maybe I could run a marathon one day. If that's what I CHOSE to do, then I'd work my butt off at it.  Do what you can. Don't worry about what you can't do. Don't compare yourself to others.

Soak up every moment. Be present in every conversation, interaction, and moment you are in.

Today is a good day to have a good day.
